By default, Dubai Customs categorizes medical and surgical equipment as restricted; unlike a server or a router, it can’t move without the proper regulatory approval. That approval process changed recently in the UAE. Since the beginning of 2026, product registration that previously passed through MOHAP now goes through a newly branded Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE), which took over 44 core regulatory functions, including device registration, import permits, and post-market compliance.
