Importing to Italy With TradeWise as Your Importer of Record

Italy is the third-largest economy in the EU, with strong demand for IT equipment from manufacturers, banks, telecom operators and public bodies. Importing to Italy needs an EU EORI number, CE-marked products and a correct declaration with Italian customs, the ADM. Foreign companies also need the right VAT setup before goods arrive. We act as your importer of record in Italy and manage every filing for you.

Fiscal Representative for Non-EU Importers

A non-EU company that wants to import in its own name needs an Italian VAT number.

To get one, a business based outside the EU must usually appoint a fiscal representative in Italy. The fiscal representative registers for VAT on its behalf, files returns and shares responsibility for the VAT due. Without this setup, the company cannot recover import VAT, and many Italian customers will not accept the goods. When TradeWise acts as importer of record, our Italian setup is used, so you do not need your own.

CE marking shows that a product meets EU rules. For IT and telecom gear, this usually covers the Low Voltage, EMC, Radio Equipment and RoHS directives. In Italy, the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT) oversees radio and telecom equipment. TradeWise checks your files to speed up Italy import customs clearance.

ADM

Italian customs collects duty and import VAT and runs AIDA.

MIMIT

The ministry oversees radio equipment and telecom rules.
