Long lead times
Approvals and detailed document checks can add weeks to a shipment.
Costa Rica is Central America's leading tech and medical device hub, and its free zones and service centers need a steady flow of IT equipment. Importing to Costa Rica requires a registered local importer, a licensed customs broker, SUTEL approval for telecom gear and accurate technical data for every product. Every shipment you import into Costa Rica is checked against these records. One missed step can lead to long delays. TradeWise acts as your importer of record Costa Rica and manages the filings for you.

Every telecom terminal device needs SUTEL approval before it can be sold or connected in Costa Rica.
SUTEL, the Superintendencia de Telecomunicaciones, homologates telecom terminal equipment such as phones, routers and wireless devices.
Approval is based on recognized test reports, such as FCC or European results. Customs and buyers check that approved equipment matches the declared models. Products without approval can be held or refused for sale.
