Missing release permits
Many shipments arrive with a TRA certificate but no release permit. The declaration can't go ahead without it.
Oman's tech market is growing fast, with new data centres and digital government projects. Importing to Oman takes planning, though. Every shipment you import into Oman is filed online in Bayan, and telecom gear needs TRA approval plus a release permit before your goods land. One missed step can block the customs declaration. We act as your importer of record in Oman and manage the filings for you.

Every import into Oman is declared in Bayan, the national customs system.
Bayan is the online platform Oman Customs uses for every declaration, payment and release.
Only a registered company with a commercial registration, an import licence and a customs code can file in it. For telecom and wireless products, the importer also needs a TRA Customs Release Permit for each shipment.

Most Important for Tech Imports
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) approves telecom and wireless equipment by model. This covers Wi-Fi routers, access points and telecom servers. After approval, each shipment still needs a Customs Release Permit through Bayan. New approvals take about three to five weeks.
TradeWise compiles and submits the full TRA file for you to speed up approval and Oman import customs clearance.

Oman sits on the Arabian Sea, outside the Strait of Hormuz. Sohar, Salalah and Duqm give it deep-water ports facing the Indian Ocean.
Its main trading partners include the United Arab Emirates, China, India and Saudi Arabia. Many shipments reach Oman by road from the UAE.
Strict permits, attested documents and new coding rules are real hurdles. With the right partner, shipments stay compliant, efficient, and cost-effective, whether you import tech goods or export dual-use products.
